A college student and a newly divorcee connecting over cigarettes and the futility of life.
A film written and directed by me owes itself to Boston and the random interactions I had with strangers.
Despite not knowing one another until a quick “hey, do you have a lighter?”, these characters explore wisdom across life differences. Both bring something to the table amid their personal crises.
Throughout this process, I learned a great deal about directing, as I had never been in a true leadership position like this one in film. Although it was intimidating, not knowing when to call action at first and freezing from the February cold, I got the hang of it.
I learned what I liked and how to speak up for myself to see the vision that the rest of the crew and I had put together.
